I grew up in Rwanda in difficult conditions. I spent most of my childhood in the orphanage called Gisimba Memorial Center in Kigali.

I first studied at Sinai Hill Academy and INTWALI Primary school and then after I passed the P6 National Exam, I joined high school in 2007 at Lycee de Ruhango IKIREZI.  I completed my advanced level at Sonrise high school till 2012. After passing Senior Six National Exams in 2012, I am pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics at the National University of Rwanda with expected graduation in June 2017.

I have been lucky to have the opportunity to study at great schools. But I didn’t always have the space to pursue my dreams or showcase the talent that was in my heart. I often wondered what I will be.

I remember I always loved watching movies and was always thinking of how they are made. It was very interesting once it was revealed that I may have the chance to pursue my career in filmmaking when Films Without Borders (FWB) came to work and shoot at Gisimba Memorial Center. FWB is a charity foundation founded by Jill Samuel and aims to break  barriers to build bridges for teenagers across the world. I was chosen to help in the production of  a documentary  “Where Would I Be Without Cricket." It made me feel more engaged in the industry and more interested in making films.

My desire to pursue filmmaking as a career and as my passion kept on growing through my work with FWB. I was honored to be selected and  awarded an internship in a feature film " London Has Fallen" starring in London. It was my first time working and traveling abroad. I learned that if you are committed and willing to work in every condition, this will lead you to success. I adapted so quickly to the weather and people at the moment. My passion at work made the director  of the film, BABAK NAJAFI ,reward me a reference of how I perfectly worked in the period of 2 months.

Afterwards, I worked with KOS film and PCH films productions, in feature film BIRDS ARE SINGING IN KIGALI and a documentary WISCI CAMP respectively in 2015. All those were experiences in every aspect of working in a film. I am lucky to have been able to work on the set of an action blockbuster, a documentary and a narrative film about Rwanda. I value each of these experiences and that each taught me about a different aspect of the film industry.

I went back to London in June 2015 to prove that all the faith FWB had put in me was the right decision. They made the doors of my dreams open when I had the honor of attending a FWB retrospective at Buckingham Palace  hosted by  DAME JUDI DENCH and HR Prince EDUARD.

I am also an activist and strongly involved with Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassadors Network (CYPAN.) I work with them on many different levels. They bring together individuals, filmmakers, artists and young leader to promote peacebuilding and prevent hate speeches.

I was invited a filmmaker to attend the workshop of YouthCAN innovation lab in February 2016 at Kigali where 34 commonwealth Africa countries were represented. Promoting peace building activities and using social media networks for campaigns is what I do in CYPAN-Rwanda. I believe it's my responsibility to promote peace and to prevent hate speeches by extremists by utilizing my filmmaking talents because it's a very influential art that has a big impact on the world.

I know I have to work hard to make my dreams come true around the globe and to showcase the ability of Rwandans in the film industry.

Film art would be my best channel to communicate and show the reality in every angle of society in order to make a better world and bring positive changes.  I don't seek fame but seek to work with passion to change the world.

Success! Message received.
